What is the story behind Oyster Bamboo Fly Rods?
Although there are numerous approaches to recounting a narrative, our About Us (the professional version), social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube), Bamboo Fly Rod Maker’s Widow (a casual peek into Shannen’s personal blog) and Press and Media (a story that travels) serve as the gateway for a more comprehensive exploration.
Why Bamboo Fly Rods?
In the mid 1800’s the hexagonal bamboo fly rod was developed and popularized by eastern anglers of the fledgling United States.
Designed in a time when things were made to last, the simple, sturdy construction of varnished bamboo creates a rod that is a true lifetime investment. Beautiful, supple, and elegant, the American split bamboo fly rod has become the standard of fly fishing tackle by which all others are measured.
As these rods are passed down from one generation to the next, they accrue a rich patina of history, becoming a tool devoured with sentimental value and a sense of permanence that transcends individual lifetimes.
