can you really use bamboo in salt water? Absolutely you can use bamboo in salt water, we do it all the time. It is a a common question, because it they just appear so delicate and fine and old-fashioned and you just think there's no way you could stand up to these big fish. We'll have guys come in and they're like "How do you even set the hook in a big fish in the salt with a flimsy bamboo rod?" Well first off, our bamboo saltwater rods are not at all flimsy, they're very much designed for the task. Secondly, you're not setting the hook with the rod, if you are you're doing it wrong. You're strip setting in the saltwater environment which means you can set it just as solidly with one type of rod as another. It just comes down to playing the fish after that and these rods are designed specifically for that task. We've landed many many fish well over 100 pounds on these rods. We were in the Keys this spring and I leadered a tarpon 140 pounds, our buddy that we were with timed it and it was seven and a half minutes we had it boatside leadered. So you can use these rods, there is no danger to the fish because you're using a bamboo rod. We're not out there exhausting these fish and being delicate with them or anything like that. These rods are designed for the purpose and they're very very capable at that job."
