❄️January 6-11, 2025 ❄️ Welcome to Oyster Bamboo Fly Rods’ first class of 2025! This week, we welcome old friends, new friends, and some really cold weather in the North Georgia mountains! 🥶
8️⃣ Clark is here for class #8! Once you’ve visited Oyster this many times, you are officially a bamboo fly rod maker! Clark is making an 8’ 7wt for Alaska. 🏔️
🍑 Zippy is back for his second class via The Keys to Rome, Georgia, so he’s now Georgia proud! Zippy is making a 7’ 6” 4wt for his new home waters. 🦦
✌🏽 Kevin is also back for his second class because he said he “pointlessly follows Zippy around.” 😂 Kevin is also making a 7’ 6” 4wt (see…he was serious about following Zippy 💫).
🔨 Greg is here for his first class! Fun fact: he built Oyster’s trade show display over 16 years ago. It now proudly sits in our showroom and serves as our retail display! Greg is making Oyster’s trusty 8’ 6wt.
🎣 Noah is here from Wyoming. Another fun fact: Bill gave him his first job when we owned the Fly Shop next door.Noah is now a full-time guide out West and Oyster’s first official recipient of our “Guide Scholarship Program.” More about that later! Noah is making an 8’ 9wt for chasing Permit! 🌊
🎁 Kelly, from Nashville, is here because his wife signed him up and said, “Do something new.” Smart woman. Kelly is making an 8’ 6wt. this week.
🍻 Rob is here with our other friends from the Keys. Let’s just say he fits right in around the shop. Rob is making an 8’ 9wt to get on some Permit as well. 🐟
🤟🏽 Our good friend and guide in the Keys ☀️, Bruce, is here for his second class! He always brings a bunch of “fishy” guys with him. We love it! Bruce is making a 7’ 9” 5wt.
🎁🎓 Father and son Thacher (making a 7’ 9” 6wt) and Kade (making a 7’ 6” 5wt) are here from Birmingham, Alabama. Fun fact: when Kade was 10 years old, he peered into our shop and told his dad that he wanted to take this class for his college graduation gift. Congrats, Kade! 🎉
❄️Welcome all to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains! It’s a perfect time to make some fly rods! ❄️
