Oyster Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class May 26-31, 2025

🤍 Once again, we welcomed both old friends and new for our May 26-31, 2025, bamboo fly rod making class. It was a beautiful week on Main Street in our busy busy little tourist town of Blue Ridge, Georgia.

🧑🧒 Bruce was here for his 4th class and said, “I couldn’t be happier to be here.” In fact, he brought his son Jack to join him for the week. Bruce built an 8’ 12 wt. for tarpon and musky, and Jack built Oyster’s classic 8’ 6 wt.

🏞️ Dave is here from Arkansas, via California. He has spent most of his life fishing and now spends a lot of time on the White River. He built a 7’ 9” 4 wt. — it’s a sweet little rod!

🎁 Jim is here from Atlanta and mentioned that he’s been in our shop a thousand times and is quite obsessed.  Good to hear! This rod is a gift for his 60th. He’s mostly looking forward to catching a fish on the 8’ 5 wt. he made in class.

🧑🧒 Todd is here for his third class. He came for his 50th birthday a few years ago because making a bamboo fly rod had always been on his bucket list. This time, he brought his son Parker with him. Todd built an 8’ 12 wt. for tarpon and musky, while Parker built an 8’ 6 wt.

✨ Ric is here for his second class, from Colorado. Ric says fly fishing is in his soul. ✨ The last rod he made with Oyster ended up being “the sweetest little rod,” and this time he built an 8’ 7 wt.

🧑🧒 Kevin is also here for his second class. He grew up fly fishing and is now ready to get back into it. He brought his son Kase, who said he’s super excited and hopes to get more into fly fishing after this class. Kevin built a 7’ 4 wt., and Kase built an 8’ 9 wt. 💫Fun fact: our 9 wt. is a staff pick!💫

🤍It was a truly special week. Thank you to all of our Oyster clients out there who support our little business. ✨
