Welcome, Bamboo Fly Rod Makers! Oyster’s March 3-8, 2025, class is well underway, and this week’s students have been absolutely fabulous!
👋 Welcome back, John and Jan from Colorado! Jan is crafting the classic 7’6” 4wt for freshwater 🦦, while John is working on Oyster’s sweet casting 8’ 7wt for saltwater 🌊. They say, “We are here because we fish.” I can’t think of a better reason!
✅📋 Kevin is joining us from Atlanta, and making a bamboo fly rod has always been on his bucket list. We’re here to help him check that off! He’s crafting an 8’ 5wt. Welcome!
⛵️ Charles is here from Florida with a group of friends, making an 8’ 7wt for saltwater fishing. It’s already been a memorable week for this crew!
🍑 David, also from Atlanta, is making an 8’ 5wt and simply said he’s just happy to be here!
🪣 Jeff is here from Michigan, and he mentioned that this class has been on his bucket list. After some twists and turns trying to get here for 4 to 5 years, he’s finally at Oyster and is “thrilled”! Jeff is making an 8’ 5wt for smallmouth bass and trout fishing.
🎣 Rodrigo and Laura are here after wanting to do this for almost a decade! Originally from Michigan, they now live in Nashville, and according to Rodrigo, Laura “smokes” him every time they go fishing. We look forward to the fish pics, Laura! 📷 Rodrigo is making an 8’ 5wt, and Laura is working on a 7’9” 5wt.
🎁 Mark and Jenni are here from Texas. This is a gift for Mark’s birthday, and fun fact: he initially thought about buying a bamboo fly rod, but Jenni knew better and said, “I’ll do you one better… Let’s go make one!” Jenni mentioned they’ll use these rods to fish with their grandkids. Mark is crafting a 7’9” 5wt, and Jenni is making an 8’ 6wt. Oyster ❤️ Texas!
✨ Welcome, everyone! Thank you so much for supporting the craft of bamboo fly rod making! ✨
