About last week… 🐜
June 23–28, 2025 bamboo fly rod making class
🪲We had 10 students — including 2 sets of husbands & wives, 3 repeats, a father & son, 2 Georgia boys, and a Montana transplant.
🎂 Class #31 for our birthday boy, John!!! John made a rod for HIMSELF this time — an 8’ 7wt. The engraving was an homage to his daughter’s tattoos…absolutely extraordinary…more on that later. 🪲
4️⃣ Lil’ Jon is here with his dad for his 4th class, making rods for his kids! He built a 7’ 6” 5wt.
🍑 Brad’s wife signed him up for our class waitlist without his consent. 😆 He’s already signed up for next year, so I guess she knows him better than he knows himself! Brad crafted Oyster’s Classic 8’ 6wt taper.
🍑 Rick from Atlanta took up fly fishing during COVID when his golf course closed, and he loves the small streams. He built a 7’ 9” 5wt. See you soon! 😉
🤠 Ed & Ellie are here from Texas. Ed enjoys tying flies and is a bass fisherman, while Ellie doesn’t fish — she’s building a 7’ 9” 4wt for Ed. 😆 Ed also built an 8’ 7wt for himself.
🪣 Scott and Tina from Atlanta are here. Scott said this has been on his bucket list for two years, and he built a 7’ 9” 6wt. Tina said she’s here with her friends Ed and Ellie, and she built the mighty 7’ 9” 5wt.
🏔️➡️☀️ Greg is here from Montana, though he’s now settled in Florida. He’s been building rods and wanted to learn the Oyster way. Greg built a 7’ 9” 5wt.
2️⃣ Jim from North Carolina is here for his second class. He’s almost retired and has been building these rods for his children. Jim crafted a 7’ 4wt.
🪲Thank you to everyone who chose to spend the week with us in beautiful downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia making something as special as a bamboo fly rod by hand. We truly appreciate these moments and will never take these extraordinary weeks for granted.🪲
Humbled,
The Oyster Crew ❤️
