Oyster Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class February 9-14, 2026

Oyster Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class February 9-14, 2026

6 days in Blue Ridge = making a bamboo fly rod with your own hands!

Welcome Oyster’s February 9-14, 2026 bamboo fly rod making class. We welcomed 4 repeat students and 6 new rod makers.

We love our repeat students. It’s the highest compliment as a business. Thanks, y’all!

John joined us for his 34th class & built an 8’ 6wt rod for his grand-nephew. He hopes when he looks at the rod he’ll think, “Uncle John must have been a cool guy.” See you soon!

Randy from Roswell, GA was here for his 8th class. His first class was a birthday gift from his wife almost 15 years ago. This time he crafted a 7’9” 6wt “with love.” See you soon!

Mark from Sheridan, Wyoming joined us for his 2nd class. He found Oyster through an online search and crafted a 7’9” 4wt for himself.

Chris, from Dallas, brought his friends. His father attended Oyster rod making classes for years, so Chris signed up. He built an 8’ 7wt for himself to fish wherever the rod takes him.

Stewart joined us from Dallas, Texas with his friends Chris, Justin, and Rob. His grandfather owned fly rods, and Stewart has always wanted to make his own bamboo fly rod. He made an 8’ 7wt bamboo rod for himself to pass down to his kids.

Rob from Dallas, TX joined us with Chris, Justin, and Stewart. He built an 8’ 9wt for himself and enjoys spending time fishing in the thin space.

Justin came from Albany, Texas with his lifelong friend Chris. He decided on an 8’ 7wt rod for himself.

Fran joined us from New Jersey with his brother, Greg, and father, Ben. Ben would not stop talking about the class, so Fran decided to join him. He made a 7’6” 5wt.

Greg joined us from Rochester, New York with his brother and father. He enjoys fly fishing and made a 7’6” 5wt for himself.

Ben from New York was here for his 2nd class and brought both of his sons, Fran and Greg. Ben crafted a 7’9” 6wt.

💫 Keeping the craft alive 💫

Thank you to everyone for making the trip, and for making the week so special!
