Welcome Makers!!! Oyster’s February 3-8 bamboo fly rod making class is underway and moving quickly this week.

Randy (better known as “Randers” around these parts…yes, TPB reference) is here for his 5th class after receiving his first as a gift from his wife for his 50th birthday. Randers, the repeat offender, is making an 8’ 7wt for an all-around freshwater rod.
Jake is here for the first time. As an avid fly fisher and woodworker, he is “bamboo curious.” He is making an 8’ 6wt. Welcome!
Jason from Texas met some Oyster students in Mexico while “fishing cane” and had to come make his own. He’s crafting an 8’ 7wt for TX Bass and Mountain Trout.
Ed, from Costa Rica, started fishing at a very young age and has been fly fishing for 5 years. He’s waited years to come to our class, and we know it will be worth the wait. Ed is making a 7’ 9” 5wt.
Andy is here from SC for class #2, matching his last rod in every way possible so his two sons have matching rods. He’s making an 8’ 6wt. Thanks, Dad!
Phil is also here from Texas (Oyster loves Texas) for his 2nd rod. He says what many in our classes often try to articulate: “This meticulous process is such a departure from real life…I even forget about work.” He is making Oyster’s classic 8’ 5wt.
Slaaaayyyyton from Arkansas is here for class #6! Fun fact: his first class was with Randy, so they get to reunite this week. Slaton will sign up for class #7 before he leaves! He is making an 8’ 9wt.
Tony received the Oyster class as a gift for his retirement. He says he’s never cast a bamboo fly rod, but that’s about to change! Tony is making an 8’ 5wt.
Frank bought a house right here in Blue Ridge a while back. He found Oyster on Main & said he “simply could not leave.” He’s fly fished his entire life and is making an 8’ 6wt for our Toccoa Tailwater.
Welcome y’all!
If you know you know…and if you don’t…you will by the end of the week.
Handcrafted for your lifetime…An heirloom for future generations.
