Oyster Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class August 25-30, 2025

About Last Week...

⛰️ Oyster’s August 25-30, 2025 Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class brought us 10 makers and a surprising respite from the heat.

🏜️ Stone was here from Arizona celebrating a birthday! 🎁 He made an 8’ 9wt for fishing striped bass in San Francisco Bay.

🧑🧒 Ronnie and Ron - father/son - from AL - both made 8’ 6wt- gift for Ron’s 86th birthday! *Love This*!

Ronnie is fishing his out West and Ron in Lay Lake. Ronnie surprised his father with a guided trip the day after class 🩶

Ronnie received his first Oyster rod from his wife which made him cry. We feel you, Junior. 😉

✨ Brian was here from south of Atlanta and has always wanted to build a rod with his own hands. He made a 7‘9“ 5 wt.

7️⃣ John was here from Marietta  for his 7th class! He said he is coming back every year until he dies and leaves $500 on deposit with us. 🤣 He made one of Oyster’s favorites…an 8’ 7wt.

4️⃣ Don was here from Hayesville, NC for his 4th class. Don made 7’6” 5wt to fish the Hiwassee and next year he is bringing his son! 🧑🧒

5️⃣ Phil was here  from Tennessee for class #5! He’s coming with John each year until he is dead as well.💀Phil made an 8’ 4wt. *fun fact* Phil is the funniest human on earth. 🎷

3️⃣ Tim was here from Alexandria, VA for class #3! He came back with our other repeat offenders and made an 8’ 6wt.

🎁 Chris was here from Suches, GA #local made 8’ 6wt to fish Coopers Creek. This class was a birthday gift. Make a wish! 🎂

🚐 David was here from Louisiana via Mississippi via Oyster’s waitlist traveling in his RV. He made 8’ 6wt.  David “enjoys woodworking and wanted to learn the process”. ✅

⛰️Thank you everyone for descending upon our little mountain town in Southern Appalachia and choosing Oyster to spend your valuable time with…It was another incredible week making fly rods, drinking beverages and fishy talk. Until next time…
