Oyster Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class August 11-16, 2025

Oyster Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class August 11-16, 2025

🌿About Last Week… Oyster’s August 11–16, 2025 bamboo fly rod making class brought 10 makers with the best energy — and bourbon to boot! 🥃

7️⃣ Randy (Randers) — Long time no see! He was here for class #7 from Roswell, Georgia, and made a 7’9” 6wt for his oldest daughter 💕 We’d like to thank Randy’s wife for originally gifting this class! 🎁

5️⃣ Bert — from Fayetteville, Georgia, class #5, made a 7’9” 6wt for his youngest daughter 💕 Bert is a craftsman through and through and caught the addiction from John (we all know John!).

2️⃣ Nick — from Florida, attending his 2nd class after having an “absolute blast” in his first class. Nick brought his son William this time 🧑🦱 William made an 8’ 6wt for himself. Nick made a 7’6” 3wt for himself and his wife that his kids will inherit. 🐾 Editor’s note: check out the hand engraving on Nick’s rod — it’s a favorite! #gooddog 🐾

✨ Bill and Judy were here - husband and wife, enjoying some quality time together. Bill made an 8’7wt and Judy an 8’ 5wt, both for themselves (their son and daughter will inherit). This class was originally a retirement gift for Bill, and he talked Judy into signing up!

2️⃣ Billy — attending his 2nd class and made an 8’ 9wt for saltwater fishing 🌊 He made this rod for his 72nd birthday 🎂, and his grandkids 🧒🧒 will inherit it. Check out his Redfish engraving! Look for the homage. 😉

🪽Lynnmarie — splits her time between Tampa, FL and Hayesville, NC. She made a 7’6” 4wt for herself. She’s an avid saltwater fly fisher and brought the good good. 🩶

🎣 Brian — long-time client. Brian has been circling Oyster for 15 years and is from Hayesville, NC. He made a 7’6” 4wt for himself and hopes his grandson inherits. Brian brought his good friend Charlie, who signed up at one of our open houses!

⛰️ Charlie (Brian’s friend) is from Ellijay. His cousin got him hooked on fly fishing years ago. Charlie made a 7’6” 4wt for himself, and his son will inherit it!

💪🏽 Our week-long class and the Blue Ridge Mountains have been a nice respite from the heat. Thank you to our students and the Oyster crew for working overtime on extras and engraving so our clients could walk away with their rods in-hand on Saturday night! We love y’all! 🩶
