October 20-25, 2025 Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class

Oyster’s October 20-25, 2025 bamboo fly rod making class welcomed five repeat students and five new rod makers from all across the United States. 🇺🇸 As a bonus… Everybody was able to enjoy Southern Appalachia at her most beautiful. 🍁 lucky them…lucky us.

3️⃣3️⃣John was here for Class #33 🤯and made a rod for his grand-nephew and hopes when he looks at the rod he says, “That guy was really cool.”

3️⃣ Colin from Fort Meyers, FL was here for class #3 and made an 8' 7wt for his son. His first class was an exploration of bamboo rods for fishing. He says there is nothing like building a rod, tying a fly, and catching a fish on that rod and fly. 🙌

2️⃣Jill from New Jersey was here for class #2. She enjoyed spending the week with her father, Colin, 🧑🧒and wanted to make a saltwater 🌊 rod this time. She built an 8' 9wt.

2️⃣ 🐅 🟠Jacob from Clemson was here for Class #2 and made an 8' 7wt. His first class was a gift 🎁 from his wife, he enjoys the process and meeting new people.

2️⃣ Ed from Beaufort, SC was here for class #2 and brought his friend Jeff. Ed made an 8' 9-wt for his son.

✍️ Eliot (who is also Shannen and Kassie‘s penpal) splits his time between Arizona and Alaska. He enjoys fishing his Oyster rods all over the world and decided to spend a week handcrafting his own rod and made an 8' 7wt for Arctic Char.

🎸Jeff from Nashville, Tennessee was here with his friend Ed. Jeff built an 8' 6wt that his son will inherit, and he intends to come back to craft a rod for his grandson.

🌊 Anthony was here from Tampa, FL. He received the class as a 50th birthday gift 🎁 from his wife and made an 8' 5wt. He enjoyed meeting new like-minded 🎣 people during the week.

🎣 Tyler from Alabama was here with his friend Aaron. He was excited to handcraft something that required skill but was doable, and he made a 7'9" 5wt.

🎣 Aaron from West Virginia came with his lifelong friend, Tyler. He made a rod his son will inherit. Aaron said his favorite part of the week was meeting new people with common interests (hint: fly fishing). He made a 7'6" 5wt.

💫 Keeping the craft Alive💫

🍁It was a great week with great people! The weather was absolutely gorgeous and everyone’s rods came out perfectly. We are so appreciative for those that travel so far to spend the week with Oyster! 🍁
