Oyster Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class January 26-31, 2026

Oyster Bamboo Fly Rod Making Class January 26-31, 2026

❄️A snow storm just made our January 26–31, 2026 bamboo fly rod making class more than interesting. Kassie even went sledding for the first time. 🛷 LOL

6️⃣Bert from Peach Tree City, GA, joined for his 6th class. He’s always enjoyed making things with his hands, and the desire to build his own rod brought him to his first Oyster class in 2022. This time he crafted an 8' 6wt for himself to fish in Colorado this fall. See you soon! 😉

4️⃣ He’s Back! Darryl from Crossville, TN, attended his 4th class. Darryl’s daughter requested an heirloom rod, so he crafted a 7'6" 3wt for her.

3️⃣John, also from Peach Tree City, GA, was here for his 3rd class. After Bert’s first class, he decided to sign up. John built an 8' 7wt. See you in 2027! 😉

🎣Bill from Fort Meyers, FL decided on an 8’ 7wt for freshwater fly fishing with his son.

🎁 Corey was here from Huntsville, Alabama. The class was an anniversary gift from his wife. Corey started fly fishing about 5 years ago and made a 7'9" 5wt to fish in Alabama.

🎣Neil from Pennsylvania has been fishing since he was 10. He primarily targets bass and has wanted a bamboo rod since childhood. Mission accomplished! Neil crafted an 8' 5wt.

🌊Marty from Charlotte, NC chose an 8’ 9wt to fish the Salt.

🎣Dennis came from southeastern Pennsylvania for his first class. He has always wanted to learn to build his own rod, enjoys making things by hand and fly fishing. He made a 7'9" 5wt for himself to fish in PA. See you soon! 😉

🎣Joe was here from the ATL. He met Bill and Shannen over 20 years ago at a trade show. Joe recently retired and decided to build an 8' 9wt for his upcoming fly fishing trips.

🏇Pete from Fort Knox, Kentucky was here for his first class. He’s wanted a high-quality bamboo fly rod for a long time that he could make by hand. Mission accomplished! Pete crafted a 7'6" 5wt to fish in Northern Michigan.

💫 Keeping the craft Alive💫

❄️A week of camaraderie, rod making, whiskey, sledding and fish talk. Each rod these students make is a testament to the craft, and we’re grateful that you chose to spend the week at Oyster.❄️
